1. What is asthma?
   
   
   Asthma is a name for the disease of the respiratory system.
   
   Your respiratory system is made up of your nose and mouth, your windpipe, your lungs, and a few airways that connect your nose and mouth with your lungs.
   
   An asthma attack is caused when these airways get blocked causing a person to have trouble breathing.
   
   
   
   
2. Asthma and Sinusitis
   
   
   Asthma attacks are triggered by many sources.
   
   Medical research has proved that there are over 200 sources that can start or provoke an asthma attack.
   
   These include the following:
   
   • Animal Allergens
   • Dust Mites
   • Air pollution
   • Fragrances
   • Respiratory Conditions
   • Sinus Infections
   • Stress

Sinusitis can worsen asthma and even cause an asthma attack.



3. Post-Nasal Drip

Post Nasal Drip irritates the airways making the asthma hard to control and sometimes causes an asthma attack.

Methods to help avoid and control an asthma attack.

Unblock Blocked sinuses.

When your sinuses are blocked, so are some of your airways.
Often some of the mucus gets infected and not only triggers an asthma attack but also a sinus attack.

Try a keep a block free sinus at all times if you are a asthma sufferer or a chronic sinus sufferer.

If you sinuses are blocked take some eucalyptus oil and some menthol and put about 3-7 drops each into a bowel of steaming water. Cover you head with a towel and sniff the fumes.

You will notice you sinuses unblocking.

This provides quick temporary relief for blocked sinuses.

For asthma sufferers it is best to try and get rid of the allergens that are more than likely to cause your attack.

4. Summer Hay Fever

Summer hay fever is also called seasonal allergic rhinitis because it only occurs during the spring and summer pollen season.

5. Perennial allergic rhinitis



Perennial allergic rhinitis occurs all the year around and is usually triggered by indoor allergens such as house dust mite, molds and animal dander.

This condition is similar to summer hay fever although they both have slightly different types of symptoms and occur when an allergen causes inflammation and irritation of the delicate linings of the nose and eyes.

Symptoms of a Perennial allergic rhinitis.

• Blocked stuffy nose.
• Headaches and earache.
• Constant sore throats and post nasal drip.
• Sleep disturbances and snoring.
• Loss of taste and smell.
• Poor concentration.

It is caused by allergy to the droppings of house dust mites or pet skin flakes (animal dander from cats, dogs, hamsters and other furry pets).

Occasionally indoor mould spores and in rare cases, food allergy can be causes.
