Hepar Sulphuris Calcarea

Commonly referred to as Hepar Sulph by homeopaths and is also known as Sulphuret of Lime. It is prepared from a mixture of calcium from oyster shells with flowers of sulphur by trituration.

For cases of sinusitis where the sinus and nose feel inflamed and discharging of mucus that is either infected or smells. Even inspiration or slightest touch over the sinuses may cause pain or discomfort. Many patients will have chronic swelling of the lymph nodes of the head and neck. Hepar Sulphuris Calcarea is an extremely useful remedy promoting discharge of the sinuses which are tense and blocked.

Calcarea Carbonica

It is also known as Calcarea Ostrearum, Calcium carbonate or carbonate of lime (chemical formula CaCO3). It is a homeopathic preparation from the middle calcium layer of the oyster shell. The calcium is triturated to produce the homeopathic remedy.

Calcarea Carbonica treats inflammation of the sinuses and nose. There is swelling and pain in the nose and sinuses. There may be a fetid odor from the nose and there is often obstruction by yellow fetid mucus that may contain pus. The patient complains of a post nasal drip that has a funny taste. Often there is crusting and ulceration of the nasal mucosa

Calcarea Fluoricum

It is also known as Calcium Fluoride, Fluoride of Lime (chemical formula CaF2). The homeopathic remedy is prepared by first triturating pure fluoride of lime according to methodology laid down in homeopathic pharmacopoeias.

Calcarea Fluoricum is used to treat sinusitis with copious offensive thick yellow or greenish yellow nasal catarrh or post-nasal catarrh. It is effect in dislodging stubborn sticky mucus

Calcarea Phosphoricum

It is also known as Calcium Phosphate, Phosphate of lime and precipitated phosphate of calcium [chemical formula Ca3(PO3)2]. The remedy is prepared by trituration according to the homeopathic pharmacopoeia.

A useful remedy when there is chronic mucus flow with lots of sneezing. There may sometimes be streaks of blood in the mucus. Characteristically there is copious discharge in the cold which ceases in a warmer environment. There may be a history of nasal polyps. There is pain in the sinus especially from right to left.

Manganum Aceticum

It is known chemically as Acetate of Manganese or Manganous Acetate. Chemical formula Mn (C2H3O2)24H2O. This chemical is triturated according to the homoeopathic pharmacopoeia to prepare the homeopathic remedy.

It treats sinusitis which has a thick mucus secretion; there is often loss or diminished smell. Used to treat the pain between the eyes and root of the nose, in cases where the ethmoid sinuses are primarily affected. There may be obstruction of the nose with a post-nasal drip.

Kalium Iodatum

Kalium Iodatum is also known as Potassium Iodide, Kali Hydriodicum, Formula K1 or KI. It is a chemical salt of Potassium and Iodine and homeopathic triturations are prepared using sugar of milk up to 3CH potency.

Used when there is a discharge of thick yellow mucus or when there is a discharge from the nose that is running and like clear water. The nasal sinuses may feel as if they are heated or one is aware of irritation of the nasal sinus. The discharge from the nose may be like burning water making the skin sore. Often there is a nasal voice and a headache.

Natrum Carbonicum

This is Sodium Carbonate. Chemical formula Na2CO3,10H2O. It is prepared in solution or trituration according to the homeopathic pharmacopoeia. Natrum Carbonicum treats sinusitis nasal catarrh that leads to a post nasal drip. There is dropping of the mucus into the throat and hawking up of thick mucus. There is profuse discharge of mucus in the day and stopped at night.
